SF360 FILM/CLUB
You and a guest are invited to SF360 FILM/CLUB at MEZZANINE on Tuesday, December 12 at 7 pm for a screening of the killer prize-winning film COLMA: THE MUSICAL with a party to follow. If you'd like to come, please RSVP to info@sf360.org by noon on 12/12 with COLMA in the subject and your name and your affiliation in the body. Richard Wong, the film's San Francisco-based director, will be in attendance, along with H. P. Mendoza, the film's lead actor, screenwriter and songwriter. Come early for complimentary Peroni beer (while supplies last) and see what happens when you take a movie out of the theater and put it into a nightclub. This is the latest event in a series that explores the social experience of the movies. You must RSVP to get in! You must be 21+ to attend! COLMA: THE MUSICAL In the town of Colma, just south of San Francisco, the dead outnumber the living one thousand to one. Here, one wouldn't expect teenagers to burst out in song, or dance around cemeteries and streets. But in COLMA: THE MUSICAL, that's exactly what happens, accompanied by enough catchy melodies, thoughtfully funny lyrics, and poetic teenage protagonists to compete with the best of Broadway. Best pals Rodel, Billy, and Maribel find themselves in a state of limbo; fresh out of high school, they are just beginning to explore a new world of part-time mall jobs and crashing college parties. As newfound revelations and romances challenge their relationships with one another and their parents, the trio must assess what to hold onto and how to best follow their dreams. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the 2006 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival. See what the hype is all about. SF360 FILM/CLUB is a movie and party series exploring the social experience of the movies. It takes films out of the theater and puts them into the nightclub. Email info@sf360.org for more details. |
